Digital X-Rays

Our office uses digital technology to take radiographs, or x-rays. Digital x-rays, compared to traditional film x-rays, require less radiation exposure for the patient, produce higher quality images for diagnosis, and are available immediately. Digital x-rays are taken both intra-orally and extra-orally to detect many conditions such as cavities, bone levels, infections, impacted teeth, and other abnormalities. X-rays are an important diagnostic tool in assessing your oral health. We customize the frequency with which we take x-rays on each patient, depending on the risk of cavities or periodontal disease or if we are monitoring any suspicious areas.

Whitening

Teeth whitening or “bleaching” is a treatment many of our patients ask about. Our office offers two options: custom tray fabrication for home treatment and in-office whitening.

Custom tray fabrication involves taking impressions of your teeth to create a personalized tray to use at home with a professional whitening solution. This way you can touch up your smile as needed.

In-office whitening is a professional service provided by a Registered Dental Hygienist. Our office uses Spa Dent, which is a quick and safe way to achieve the maximum whitening benefit in the least amount of time. It is a pH neutral solution so it will not harm your enamel. It is also safe to use on crowns and veneers. There is virtually no sensitivity and you can eat and drink after just 1 hour. Add an extra 30 minutes to your next cleaning appointment to get that whiter smile!

Laser

Laser dentistry uses intense beams of light generated by a laser to perform procedures traditionally executed by more invasive methods. Dental lasers can be used for various techniques, including reshaping of gum tissue, benign tumour removal, or reducing gum inflammation. Some of the benefits of soft tissue laser dentistry include less damage to surrounding tissue, faster healing, reduced bleeding during and after treatment, reduced need for anesthesia, and reduced need for stitches. Canker sores, cold sores, and other mouth sores can also be alleviated with low level laser therapy, and their durations can be reduced.

Velscope

Velscope is a handheld scope that uses natural tissue fluorescence to detect oral mucosal abnormalities such as oral cancer or pre-malignant dysplasia not visible to the naked eye. Finding such conditions early increases survival rates significantly. Performed alongside your regular intra and extra-oral exam, we provide this service to you without any additional cost.
